What they say about my workshops

The three afternoon drawing workshops I've done with Gaby have been very enriching. With just a few basic rules and some excellent examples, I've managed to learn how to draw taking perspective into account and, above all, not to chase perfection, but to let myself go. It's not just about passing the time. You go there to learn, but without feeling pressured. I think Gaby knows very well how to teach and convey things. I highly recommend these workshops.

This July I attended Gaby's Urban Sketching workshop and I can only say that it felt far too short. Three sessions that went by in the blink of an eye, were intense and dynamic hours. It was an introduction to the technique of urban drawing and how to work with watercolours. It helped me lose a bit of my fear of architectural drawing. It provided me with a series of guidelines to take the first steps. In September I'm going to keep at it!

Gift a Workshop

With the gift voucher, give someone the experience of an Urban Sketching workshop. You can choose between group and individual workshops. Also, you can decide the duration and number of lessons.

Who runs the workshop?

Hi, I’m Gaby.

I’ve been a designer since 1992, I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember and have over 10 years of experience teaching and mentoring (EMCC).

Not a day goes by without me learning something, and I love sharing it.

For a long time I sought perfection, and that led me to stop painting. One day I discovered Urban Sketching and it set me free. Now I enjoy every moment, learning from everything I do.

I run workshops because I love helping people find their own way of expressing themselves, at their own pace, giving them the tools and smoothing the way.

I specialise in watercolour and ink, but I also use coloured pencils (and more that I’ll keep adding)

You can find me sketching in the streets of Baix Montseny or on Instagram.

Recommended Materials

Paper
  • A5 (landscape or portrait) or A4 (portrait)
  • Made with watercolour or mixed media paper (Canson XL type), minimum 200 gsm thickness
  • Better without a spiral, but whatever you have or can get will do

For drawing
  • Pencil (HB or 2B)
  • Calibrated waterproof ink pen, 0.3 or 0.5 thickness
  • Eraser
  • Pencil sharpener (if the pencil is not mechanical)

For painting
  • Set of 12 watercolours
  • Two brushes (4 and 10): fine and medium/thick. There are sets of 3 (4, 10 and 12).
  • If you have a water brush, that works, but also bring a wooden brush size 10.

Important notes on materials
  • If you don’t have materials, I will lend you some for the first two sessions.
  • Avoid school watercolours and sets bought from Temu or similar (cheap watercolours end up being very expensive). Poor quality material is much harder to use.
  • A good option is a “travel set 2” of 12 half pans. They cost around €12-14, and last almost a year with regular painting.
  • Good quality and affordable watercolours: White Nights, Cotman, Van Gogh, Daler-Rowney, Schmincke Akademie
  • “Professional” watercolours: Schmincke Horadam, Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith
